Vietnam Travel Journal: Christmas Eve in Hanoi

Happy New Year 2017! I wish you happiness, love, luck, peace, and success in the year to come. I just got back from my Vietnam trip and would love to share some of my good and bad experiences throughout this trip with you all. I'll be very frank, no sugar coated as I really do hope this and all the up-coming posts about Vietnam could help some of you decide if Vietnam is your dream destination or not...

We spent 3 days in Hanoi and it was our first stop. My friend and I arrived Hanoi on Christmas eve, so we decided to go out exploring the street of Hanoi and catch some Christmas vibes at St.Joseph's Cathedral which located very close to where we were staying. There were a Christmas performances in front of the Cathedral, the street and bars around the area were packed with people. You will see motorcycles and cars beeping loudly everywhere on the street. No offense but I found it extremely unpleasant! They cause both air and noise pollution. I have to say the traffic was crazy and it always a challenge to cross the street. However, you just have to accept the fact that it's their culture and be very careful when walking on the street. Not exactly the ideal for cozy Christmas celebration.

After exploring a bit of old Quarter in Hanoi, we decided to go to The Hanoi Social Club a more quiet place perfect for our Christmas eve chill out. This is a Hidden gem. I love the old colonial building and its cozy decoration. We ordered some dessert to share and they were pretty delicious!
